Carolyn Elouise Johnson Tuten

Carolyn Elouise Johnson Tuten, 89, of Blackshear, passed away Friday afternoon, June 21, 2024, at Harborview – Pierce County Nursing Home.

Born in Blackshear January 29, 1935, she lived in Pierce County all of her life. She was retired from John H. Swisher Cigar Factory where she had been a cigar roller. She loved fishing and flowers and was a member of Hacklebarney Baptist Church.   

She was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Emily Susan Fowler Johnson.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Julius Darden Tuten; a grandson, Austin Johnson; a sister and two brothers-in-law, Faye Higginbotham (husband, Johnny) and Alvin Rowell; all three of her brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo Johnson (wife, Newlene), Edward Johnson (wife, Mary) and J.C. “Buddy” Johnson (wife, Carolyn).

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Ray Keller, Alma and Virginia and Ernest Johnson, Blackshear; a son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Amber Tuten, Blackshear; three sisters, Louise Rowell, Blackshear, Merinda (Carl) Bennett, Sargent, TX, and Joy (Eugene) Dixon, Waycross; five grandchildren, Chris Keller (wife, Erica), Misty Keller Johns (husband, Donovan), Steven Johnson, Rebecca Boatright (husband, Robby) and Chad Tuten (wife, Susan); 12 great -grandchildren, Walker Keller, Ashton Johnson (girlfriend, Gracie), Gabie Johnson, Maddie Johnson, Garrett Cason, Weston Cason (wife, Alexis), Brayden Cason, Graysen Keller, Sydney Keller, Wesley Chadwick Tuten, Colton Johns and Evan Deen; two great-great-grandchildren, Jaxson Cason and Tate Cason; a third great-great-grandchild, Wrenley Grace Johnson, who is due any day and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Monday, June 24, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, June 24, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Thrift officiating.

Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Waycross.

The family kindly requests employees of Harborview-Pierce serve at honorary pallbearers. They are asked to please meet at the chapel by 3:30 p.m. Monday.
