D.L. Bennett

WAYCROSS — Mr. Danny Lamar Bennett, Sr., 70, died Monday afternoon, December 30, 2024, at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

Bennett was born June 17, 1954 in Homerville to the late Leland Arlanda Bennett and Edith Luvell Wright Bennett. He graduated from Clinch County High School in 1972.

Bennett was formerly employed by CSX Railroad, Ware County Sheriff’s Department, Ware State Prison and D. Ray James Prison. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Bennett was also preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Brown Bennett; and two brothers, Cleland and Ralph Bennett.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Bennett, Jr. (Tammy) and Benjamin Bennett; three daughters, Brianna Bennett, Lucinda Bennett and Dawn Coffee; siblings, Rose Cobb (Jimmy), Leila Thrift (Jackie), Lisa Bennett and Barbara Smith (Denny); as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Friday, January 3 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed at Hargraves Cemetery in Millwood.
