Woodson Dixon
Born in Mershon May 28, 1944, he had lived in Pierce County for most of his life. He was self-employed as a farm-supply salesman with Woodson Dixon Chemical Company. An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Fox Hunters Association as well as the Pierce County Hunting Club. He was a member of Ward Memorial Church.
He was a son of the late Dock Franklin and Edith Bernice Monroe Dixon. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Dixon Thompson and stepdaughter, Shelly Dixon.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Howell Dixon, Blackshear; his children, David (Sue Ann) Dixon, Patterson, Cynthia (Olin) Lovett, Statesboro and Angel (Kevin) Knowlton, Blackshear; his step-children, Helen Arnold and Link Smart, both of Blackshear; two sisters, Beverly Wall, Savannah and Berna (Jimmy) Hitson, Old Town, FL; two brothers, Franklin Dixon, San Antonio, TX and Larry Dixon, Townsend, GA; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Kristen) Dixon, Ethan (Banks) Lovett, Courtney (Justin) Devereaux, Blaine Lovett, Skylar (James) Arnold, Tyce (Mercedes) Lovett, Dixon Knowlton and Emma Knowlton; 10 stepgrandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, from the Pearson- Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Crosby officiating.
Interment followed in the Waters Cemetery.
