Carolyn Annette Deal Carter, 84, of Hinesville, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Hospice of Savannah.

 

Born in the Long Branch Community of Appling County, she

Carter

moved to Liberty County in 1991 and has lived there ever since. She was known as the organizer of her family and friends. She planned and never missed her class reunions and family reu nions every year. She enjoyed gardening, music, researching genealogy, watching birds and Christmas time. But most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Patterson her whole life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Darwin and Doretha Lynn Deal and her brother and sister-in-law, Lynn Deal (Betty).

Survivors are her husband, Jimmy Carter; daughters, and sons-inlaw, Cheryl Arnold (Kevin), Savannah and Debbie Dees (John), Baxley; sons and daughtersin- law, David Martin (Leisha), Odum and Greg Martin (Bebe), Kingsland; sister and brotherin- law, Elaine Bass (Roy), Baxley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elwyn Deal (Nancy), Anderson, SC and Eldon Deal (Pam), Baxley; grandchildren, Blaze Martin (Samantha), Valrico, FL, Christopher Martin, Cartersville, J.C. Dees, Savannah, Dylan Martin, Jesup, Zach Martin, Savannah and Josh Martin, Athens; two great-grands, Levi and Shelby Martin, both of Valrico, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, from the Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jason Deal and Elder Sam Bennett officiating. Musical selections “How Great Thou Art”, “Precious Memories” and “In the Garden” were rendered by the congregation.

Interment followed in the church cemetery with Chaplain Nancy Deal officiating.

Pallbearers were Stacy Bass, Jason Bass, Ryan Deal, Dennis Deal, Jimmy Clow, and Glenn Shelby.

Honorary pallbearers were the Appling County High School class of 1957.

Remembrances are suggested to Hospice of Savannah or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
