Thomas Jackson “Jackie” Davis Jr., 91, of Mershon, passed away early Friday morning, March 28, 2025, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born January 26, 1934, in Mershon, he was the son of the late Thomas Jackson Davis Sr. and Inez Thomas Davis. Living most of his life in Pierce County, he was a 1952 graduate of Patterson High School. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College but was drafted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict era and was stationed in Germany.

He worked as a loan officer for many years, beginning with Production Credit which became Farm Credit Services (now AgSouth Farm Credit) and then worked in public relations for Peoples State Bank (now Pineland Bank) in Baxley.

Following retirement, he enjoyed traveling and his two favorite trips were to Yellowstone National Park and to Alaska. He also enjoyed the yearly family trips to the beach and other places with his children and grandchildren.

For much of his life, he was a farmer and still en joyed tending to and watching his cows. He was a faith ful member of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association, Satilla Chapter.

He was a longtime member of Patterson Baptist Church, served many years as a deacon and on numerous committees. He was a longtime Sunday school director and had taught Sunday school and Baptist Training Union.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Anne and Harry Monroe Bryson; and a brother-in-law, Larry James.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Montez Walker Davis, Mershon; three children, Dr. Sandy Trowell (husband Sam), Sandy Springs, Thomas Davis III (wife Diane), Mershon and John Davis (wife Dr. Jennifer), Anniston, AL; five grandchildren, T.J. Davis (wife Natalie), Mershon, Drew Davis (wife Hannah), Waycross, Hannah Flourney (husband Cole), Atlanta, John-Rhodes Davis, Birmingham, AL, and Julia Davis, Anniston, AL; four great-grandchildren, Olivia Davis, Harper Davis, Madeline Davis and Lincoln Davis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Winona Walker, Patterson, Terry and Dale Walker and Latrelle and Phil Campbell, all of Blackshear and Frances James and Elizabeth Swain, both of Kingsland and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 30, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.

Interment followed in the Laura Chapel Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed by signing online at www.hartfh.com.
