WAYCROSS — Daryl Fuller Perritt, 59, of Waycross, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the Malcolm Randall Veterans Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., after a brief illness.

Perritt was born September 8, 1965 in Clearw ater, Fla., to the late Richard Herbert “Jack” Perritt and Camilla Jean “Millie” Register Perritt. He was raised in Waycross and Patterson.

Perritt, who spent his entire adult life in Waycross, was a 1983 graduate of Pierce County High School.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a 33-year member of the Waycross Fire Department before his retirement. He also worked part time with the Ware County Fire Department.

Always the social person, Perritt was involved in many activities including attending annual NASCAR racing events as well as working as a firefighter with NASCAR. he enjoyed the camaraderie of these events and the many friendships made.

For more than 20 years, Perritt served as a volunteer clown serving families of fallen firefighters at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Maryland. He was an avid scuba diver serving as “Chief” of the volunteer dive team for Ware County, as well as owning his own underwater pool repair business.

Perritt was a fire safety educator, lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, local member of the Okefenokee Ducks Unlimited, and a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church.

He is survived by his two daughters, Maggie Perritt Sweat (Simon) of Patterson and Jessica Perritt of Waycross; three grandchildren, Riley, Jayden, and Remley; a brother, Richard H. Perritt III (Pam) of Waycross; a sister, Camilla Denton of Waycross; former wife and mother of his children, Stacey Perritt LaRoche; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 22 at Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. A private graveside service will be held in Oakland Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation @www.firehero.org Members of the Waycross Fire Department and the Ware County Fire Department served as honorary pallbearers.
