Shirley Rose Sloan Grantham
WAYCROSS — Mrs. Shirley Rose Sloan Grantham, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday morning March 22, 2025, at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born March 24, 1934 in Miami, Fla., to the late Ward Beecher Sloan and Ludell McNeal Sloan. Mrs. Grantham graduated from Waycross High School.
She was formerly employed as a Bell telephone operator, and a seamstress for many years at Jake & Ed’s Men’s Shop.
Mrs. Grantham was a loving and devoted homemaker and mother of five children who for two years had to be driven to four different schools.
She was also a Sunday School teacher, pianist and organist at Grace Chapel for many years. Mrs. Grantham and her husband, Earl, attended Kettle Creek Church the last 30 years of their lives where she also served as a pianist.
Anyone who knew Mrs. Grantham, knew of her gentle, loving spirit, and if you ever entered her home, you were always greeted with a “woohoo” and a smile. Her loving home was always open to everyone, and she will be remembered by how she would raise her hands and praise her Lord as he commanded without ceasing.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grantham was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Earl David Grantham, Sr.; her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Goble; one brother, Jimmy Sloan; and sisters, Carolyn Wilson and Christine Russell.
Survivors include her children, David Grantham (Cindy) and their children, Carla Darheim (Allan), Cole Grantham (Gloria) and Randi Elizabeth Nguyen (Eugene); Randy Grantham (Belinda) and their children, Anniston and Annslee Kate; Kerrie Ann Sotto-Lucas (Dre), Lindsey Grantham, Matt Kimbrell (Kelli) and their mother, Nell; Elizabeth’s husband, Joey Goble, and their children, Rachel Carter (Brandon), Ryan Goble (Mariette) and Rebecca Dockery (Kris); Sherry Yeomans (Billy) and their children, Joshua Abernathy (Michelle), Sara Abernathy, Jonathan Abernathy (Samantha), Jared Abernathy (Taylor) and their father, Ab Abernathy; Will and Nash Yeomans; Garrett Grantham (Billie Jo); and Keith Bell, whom she considered her son; 23 great grandchildren, Noah, Evan and Joanna Grantham, Trinlee and Grantham Nguyen, Alaina, Ava and Austin Carter, Caleb, Riley-Elizabeth and Roman Goble, Isaac, Levi, Kaleb, Samuel and Judah Dockery, Nathan, Atalie and Ethan Abernathy, Asher, Elena and Emmitt Abernathy, Mason Earl Abernathy and Landrey Yeomans; niece and nephews, Henry Russell (Susan), Rusty Russell (Donna) and Cynthia Eddings (Walt); and numerous other relatives.
