Joyce Davis Gamble
Mrs. Gamble was born February 7, 1939 to the late Ezekiel and Ruby Hodges Davis in Nahunta. From a young age she worked along with her siblings on their large family farm in Folkston.
After graduating from Charlton County High School, she was employed by Terminal Bag Company in Yulee, Fla., until retirement.
Mrs. Gamble met the love of her life, Robert Gamble, and the two were wed. The Gambles went on to have three children, Brenda, Debbie and Bobby.
Mrs. Gamble was a faithful Christian woman whom loved God. She also loved cooking, taking care of others, talking on the phone with friends, working in the yard and spending time with her grandson, Joey, and her beloved dog, Porter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gamble; sisters, Kathleen Johns, Dorthy Jones, Sara Nasworthy, Queenie Harvey, Rita Brown, Margie Crews and Eleanor Sikes; brothers, Dean Hodges, Cecil Hodges and Clyde Hodges; and a very special sister-in-law, Jackie Gamble O’Quinn.
Mrs. Gamble is survived by her grandson, Joey Popham (Janet); children, Brenda Popham (Bob), Debbie Zielinski (Len) and Bobby Gamble; brothers, Stanley Davis (Patti) and Clinton Davis; sisters, Margie McCullough (Ray), Maxine Morgan (H.C.) and Stella Wilson; and very special sister-in-law, Pat Capps.
A funeral service was held Friday, March 7, 2025 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston.
Burial followed at Sardis Cemetery.
