Danny Lamar Chancey Sr.
Sr., 71, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born March 22, 1953, in Fort Benning, he was a son of the late Clarence Chancey Sr. and Hazel Virginia Brown Chancey. He lived most of his life in Pierce County and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He had been a longtime truck driver, working many years for Thom’s Transport and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing and attending area dances with his brother, Riley, with whom he shared a special bond.

In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Rose Varnadore Chancey; a son, Jason Chancey; a grandson, Jamie Galloway and a brother, Clarence Chancey Jr.
Survivors include a son, Danny Lamar “Toby” Chancey Jr., Savannah; five grandchildren, Nicholas Chancey (Lauren), Lana Chancey, Courtney Harris and Ashley Jones, all of Waycross, and Gunter Chancey of Maryland; five great- grandchildren, Sawyer Sills, Karsyn Dodd, Neveah Johnson, Levi Norman and Brayden; nine siblings, Riley Chancey, Karl Chancey (wife Tonya) and Timmy Chancey, all of Blackshear, Susan Cardwell, Waycross, Carol Ann Chancey, Hinesville, Virginia Ann Chancey of Florida, Karen Walker, Alma, Kevin Cobb, Savannah, and Betty Ann Ternest, Atlanta and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Interment followed in Waters Cemetery.
