Christopher Wayne Wilcox
ALMA — Christopher Wayne Wilcox, age 53, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his residence after an extended illness.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Lindsay Jones Wilcox; three children, Payt o n Chance Wilcox, Paxton Ty Wilcox ( Jansen Nipper) and Kaira Wilcox Hayes (Caleb); three grandchildren, Cam, Kase and Cain Hayes; brother, Scott Wilcox (Lacey) of Hoboken; mother-in-law, Rugena Taylor (Joe Penor); father- in-law, Pete Jones (Ramona); sister-in-law Maygen Holton (David); nephews Jacob and Caleb Holton; many aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Wilcox was the son of the late Billy Wayne Wilcox and Feral Coleman Wilcox. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elijah and Vertice Coleman; paternal grandparents, Edwin and Alowe Wilcox; special aunt, Linda Coleman Carson; uncle, Johnny Coleman; and cousin, Rhonda Sue Coleman.
If you knew Wilcox you knew the love he had for God, his family, his friends, his businesses and his community. You also would know his strong will and determination of anything he put his mind to. That same strong will and determination allowed him to battle a disease that up until his last breath he fought to overcome.
Wilcox ultimately won that battle for today he is surely walking and talking nonstop! He loved to talk and always had his mind open to learn. Wilcox seemed to have a knowledge of just about everything!
He loved his family more than life. His children and his grandchildren brought more joy to him than they will ever know. Wilcox’s wife, to him, was as important as the air he breathed. Without her by his side, he felt he simply could not live. We will forever miss his earthly presence in our lives, but he will forever live in our hearts.
A funeral service was held Saturday, March 1 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Sweatt and Brother Wayne Bennett officiating. Interment followed at Elizabeth Chapel Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jonathan Coleman, Craig Coleman, Van Lamb, Jacob Holton, Caleb Holton and Chris Davenport. Honorary pallbearers were Coastal Hospice nurses, Amber Yawn and Kylie Eason, the Bacon County Class of 1989 and Tanya Coleman.
Crosby Funeral Home of Alma was in charge of arrangements.
