WAYCROSS — Mrs. Emily Marceil Wildes, 94, died Sunday morning, February 23, 2025, at Satilla Bluffs Senior Care after an extended illness.

Mrs. Wildes was born November 13, 1930 in Ware County to the late James Robert Griffin and Marg aret Tuten Griffin. She retired from Georgia Power as a customer service representative.

Mrs. Wildes was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Merry Makers, and the Georgia Power Ambassadors where she served as president for many years. At a very young age, she was a member of the garden club. As a trip planner and traveler, Mrs. Wildes enjoyed shopping and eating crab legs.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Grady Wildes.

Survivors include two children, Larry Wildes (Susan) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Terry Varnadore (Roger) of Climax. Ga.; three grandchildren, Jody Varnadore (Kirk La) of Gainesville, Fla., Payton Varnadore (Laura) of Peachtree City, Ga., and Joey Wildes (Briant) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; great grandchildren, Payton La, Caleb, Andrew and Benjamin Varnadore; brother, J.R. Griffin of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 1 at Central Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, February 28 at Music Funeral
