Thomas Wesley Martin
Martin was born May 18, 1941 in Brantl e y County to Thomas Watson Martin and Goldie Melton Martin.
He grew up in Brantley County and attended Brantley County Schools.
For 61 years, he was a devoted husband to his precious wife, Naomi Ruth Martin. He loved woodworking, planting and harvesting vegetables, fishing and loving on his grandchildren. Most importantly, he loved the Lord and was devoted to his family and friends.
Martin worked 41 years at Swisher Cigar Factory in Waycross and then in Jacksonville, Fla., where he was a revered master mechanic. The company flew him to other countries including Spain, Honduras, Germany, Belgium and Holland to work on equipment.
He was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Adult Coed 4 Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Ruth Martin; a son, Gregory Thomas Martin; two sisters, Ruby Barnard and Doris Barnard; and two brothers, Raymond Martin and Delmus Martin.
Survivors include his son, Travis Phillip Martin (Jeannie); daughter-inlaw, Theresa Martin; grandchildren Maranda Conley of Nahunta, Cassie Waters (Terry) of Bickley, Morgan Jones (John) of Nahunta, Caitlin Martin of Waycross, Mitchel Martin (Chelsea) of Waycross; seven great grandchildren Whitley Conley, Kelsey Duncan, Kyley Duncan, Carli Waters, Talon Waters, Veta Marie Swain and Anna Gail Ruth Martin; one sister, Linda Sirmons (Larry) of Waycross; one brother, Alton Martin of Vienna, Ga.; two special sister-inlaws, Lois Martin and Linda Henderson; and many special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
Burial followed in High Bluff Cemetery.
Members of the Adult 4 Coed Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers.
