Mrs. Dampier was born September 20, 1938 in Valdosta to the late William Eugene Byrd and Nellie Mae Howard Byrd. She was formerly employed by Belk’s as a cosmetic department consultant from 1991 until 2004.

She was a member of Astoria Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dampier also was preceded in death by her husband, June Earl “J.E.” Dampier; and her son, Steve Dampier.

Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Marie Dampier of Waycross; grandchildren, Garrett Hinnant, Trevor Dampier and Jade Hodges (Logan); great grandchild, Beau Manin Hodges; sister, Jeanie Byrd Williams of Valdosta; niece, Leigh DeLoach (Arden); and great niece, Catie DeLoach.

A funeral service was held Sunday, November 24 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. A private entombment was held Monday, November 25 at Greenlawn Mausoleum.
