Curtis A. ‘Cowboy’ Jones, Sr.
JESUP — Curtis A. Jones, Sr., 82, affectionately known as “Cowboy,” passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at home.
Jones was a resident of Wayne County for the past 30 years and former resident of Jacksonville, Fla. He was born December 17, 1942 to the late Joseph Augustus Jones and Mary Alice Tanner Jones.
Jones worked several jobs throughout his life including a milkman in his younger years, then a trucker for many years and concluded his working career taking on odd jobs and doing home repairs.
In his spare time, Jones enjoyed fishing, hunting and socializing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Dorothy Marie Maynard Jones; son, Curtis A. Jones, Jr.; daughter, Kathy A. Stewart; brothers, Joseph, Jerry, Johnny and Leonard Jones; and sisters, Betty Lowe, Jeanette Sick and Dorothy Fine.
Survivors include his children, Tina Peralta and husband, Gaypeart, of Snow Camp, North Carolina, Lydia Cake and husband, Jordan, of Jacksonville, Fla., Patti Harrison and husband, Brett Kinard, of Screven, Jennifer Taylor and husband, Dwayne, of Hortense, Elizabeth Sexton of West Virginia and Marion Cox and husband, Danny, of Screven; sisters, Hazel Barnes of Screven and Mary York of North Carolina; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Services will be private. Howard and Jones Funeral Home of Jesup was in charge of arrangements.
