WAYCROSS — Mrs. Iris Hipps, 93, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at her residence in Waycross following an extended illness.

She was born in Jeff Davis County to the late Richard F. Drawdy and Mattie Lee Herr ington Drawdy. She was a seamstress most of her life working primarily with sportswear. She also worked in the cafeteria at Wacona Elementary School. She was a member of Deenwood Baptist Church for many years.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Starling Quincey Hipps; an infant girl; and four siblings, Jerol Drawdy, Joyce Shumpert, Wanda Hampton, and Delton W. Drawdy.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara S. Johnson (Walter) of Waycross; a son, Fulton Hipps (Dana) of Waycross; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two greatgreat grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Drawdy (Joann) of Waycross and Ricky Drawdy (Jen) of Illinois; two sisters, Inez Butler of Hilliard, Fla., and Shirley Ammons of Waynesville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Friday, February 14 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
