WAYCROSS — Mr. David Ben “Dave” Callaway, Sr., 74, died suddenly early Sunday morning, February 16, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, S.C.

He was born August 16, 1950 in Chickamauga, Ga., to the late John B. Callaway and Ethel Jones Callaway. Callaway graduated from West Georgia College with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. He was the owner/operator of Callaway Communications, editor/publisher of the Waycross Magazine, and the producer of the Satilla Faith Channel. Callaway was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Callaway and J.W. Callaway.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sharon Hetherington Callaway of Waycross; three children, David B. Callaway, Jr. (Stephanie), Allison Herrin (Brian) and Tricia Williams (John); grandchildren, Annie Callaway, Caroline Herrin, David B. “Tripp” Callaway III, Jackson Williams, Natalie Herrin, Nicholas Callaway, Cathryn Williams, Jenna Herrin, Jones Herrin and Sara Callaway; brother, Jimmy Callaway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 9 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
