James W. Davis
Ga., to the late Lonnie Davis and Dollie Mae Kight Fullwood, and made Waycross his home for most of his life. He was a longtime owner/operator of Davis Exxon in Waycross and enjoyed playing the guitar in his younger days. He was an avid fishe rman and a member of Suwann e e Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his loving wife, Amy Wainright Davis; a daughter, Penny Davis; and a sister, Vernita Cason.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam Popwell and her husband, Michael, of Waycross; five grandchildren, Erin McMillan and her husband, Jesse, of Kingsport, TN, David Popwell and his wife, Kaley, of Hortense, Tyler Popwell and his wife, Morissa, of Sherrills Ford, N.C., Dusty Thornton and his wife, April, of Blackshear, and Megan Hare and her husband, Steve, of Waycross; 10 great grandchildren, Riley McMillan, Millie McMillan, Aiden Robinson, Cade Popwell, Case Popwell, Jerry Popwell, Lillie Popwell, Grant Thrift, Connor Thrift, and Amy Hare; two nieces, Sharon Peacock and her husband, Kurt, of Blackshear, and Sylvia Griffin and her husband, Jerry, of Belews Creek, N.C.; as well as numerous cousins and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, February 19) at Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy. Burial will take place in Suwannee Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at the church.
