WAYCROSS — Mrs. Karen Joan Brookshire, 73, died Thursday morning, February 6, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness.

She was born September 20, 1951 in Waycross to the late Eugene C. Lee and Wilma Grace Chapman Lee. Mrs. Brookshire graduated from Ware County High School, retired from BB&T and attended Kettle Creek Church. She always enjoyed shopping, and traveling to the beach and mountains, but some of her best memories were spent on her back porch with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Wayne Brookshire.

Survivors include two sons, Patrick Brookshire and Lee Brookshire (Robyn) of Waycross; daughter-in-law, Wendy Brookshire; grandchildren, Madison Brookshire (Trey Martin), Taylor Brookshire and Tyce Brookshire; “special” granddaughter, Henley Martin; special friends, Georgia Huff, Jan Carter, Linda Lovett and Debbie Ursery; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A graveside service was held Monday, February 10 at Kettle Creek Cemetery.
