Jon Brian Gebhart, 66, of Waycross, died Sunday afternoon, November 12, 2023, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, after an extended illness.
He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the late Nora Jean Gwatney and made Waycross his home for many years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as a police officer for the Pearson Police Department for a couple years and most recently worked as a sheriff’s deputy for the Pierce County Sheriff Office. He enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to music and loved his puppy Marlee.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kylie Anne Gebhart and his step-father, J.B. Griffin.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Judy Gebhart, Waycross; two sons, Chap Gebhart (wife Heather), Alma and Casey Gebhart, Waycross; three grandchildren, Gabrielle Gebhart, Charleigh Gebhart and Huxley Gebhart; four siblings, DeAnna Jones of Ohio, Meloni Simpson (husband Archie), Waycross, Britt Griffin (wife Jennifer) of North Carolina and Cindy Lee (husband James), Hoboken and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, from the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
