Glenn Brooks ‘Sam’ Ivey

Glenn Brooks “Sam” Ivey, 62, of Blackshear, passed away Monday afternoon, November 20, 2023, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

He was born in Jacksonville, FL February 3, 1961.  He came into this world special and spent his whole life showing everyone just how much.  His family and all who knew him adored him. He loved the Lord, going to church, listening to gospel music and “preaching” with his Bible in hand.  He was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church, now Living River Church of God. He also loved to eat with spaghetti being one of his favorite meals.   

He was a son of the late James Alvin and Inez Hester Walker Ivey. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Hatcher, Mary Hodge and Dorothy Brooker and all four of his brothers, Robert, Cecil, J. L. and Vernon Ivey.

Survivors include his three sisters, Linda Fraizer (Wayne Davis) and Glenda Heideman, all of Blackshear and Debra Norton, Patterson; numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved and cherished him and several other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor R. B. Gaskins officiating.

Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Joe Davis, Trey Barber, Walt Taylor, Dale Hodge, Chuckie Perigo, Zach Ortez, Steve Larson and Justin Douberly.

Honorary pallbearers will be Melissa Brooker Cribbs and D. J. Gill.

Employees of Parkwood Developmental Center in Valdosta are kindly asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials be made to the Hospice Satilla Hospice House, 811 Beacon St., Waycross, GA  31501.
