The closure of several Pierce County railroad crossings will has been extended through this Friday, May 12.
The crossing closures for routine maintenance started last week, but “significant delays” in the work have required the closures be extended, according to CSX Railroad and Southern Commercial Development, LLC.
It is possible the closures will be extended further until May 15.
A list of updated dates of closures and re-openings was not provided.
Pierce County closures include Midway Church Road, Homestead Road and Olin Manning Circle (Spatola) and Keller Street and Grady Street in Blackshear and Azalea/Altman Streets in Blackshear; Aarons Way, Son Thomas Road, Dixon Street in Patterson, a private crossing and Offerman Loop (west), Offerman Loop (east), Railroad Lane and the private road/Oak Crossing Road.
The crossings will be closed for maintenance and repair. This will necessitate rerouting traffic. Signage will be in place marking detour routes. Please note the expected closure dates. Each crossing will be closed for three to five days, depending on the maintenance work that needs to be performed.
CSX and Southern Commercial Development caution that the schedule is subject to change due to weather and other unforseen circumstances.
