Georgia Equendial ‘Quen’ McRea Buie

Georgia Equendial “Quen” McCrea Buie, 90, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 24, 2023, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.

Born in Alma April 17, 1933, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life. She was a 1950 graduate of Bacon County High School. She retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 30+ years of service working as a telephone operator. She loved to work in her yards and enjoyed fishing and dancing.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and so enjoyed going to all of their school functions over the years. She also loved making memories with her family in Fernandina Beach where they would all gather for vacation. She attended the Blackshear First United Methodist Church.  

She was a daughter of the late John L. (Katherine) McCrea Jr. and Ocie Lee (Everette) Moore.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Archibald Buie Sr.; a son-in-law, Sam Walker; her sister, Jeanine Castro and a brother, Tommy McCrea.

Survivors include two daughters, Gail Walker and Elizabeth Dowling, both of Blackshear; her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Jr. and Kay Buie, Waycross; a brother, John L. McCrea Jr., Blackshear; nine grandchildren, Lealane (Brian) Sanders, Hannah (Kelly) Murray, Cassie (Nick) Berkemeier, Quincy (Chase) Burgess, Sam Walker Jr., Thomas Dowling Jr., Jessica (Chris) Clark, Hunter Buie and Bailey (Blake) James; 16 great-grandchildren with the 17th due in July, Ava, Claire, Julianna, Olivia, Owen, James, John Daniel, Maren, Quill, Natalie, Audrey, Riley Quinn, Elyse, Madilyn, Gracie, Olivia and baby Camden Buie James; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at the funeral home chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Sam, Thomas, Hunter, Brian, Kelly, Nick, Chase, Chris and Blake.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice Satilla Hospice House, 811 Beacon St., Waycross, GA  31501.
