Joseph Jerome Owens, 52, of Blackshear, passed away early Sunday morning, May 14, 2023, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born February 4, 1971, in Blackshear, he was a son of the late Vilos Jasper and Eldrie Altman Owens. He lived all his life in Pierce County and was a retired machine operator. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Owens.
Survivors include his eight sisters, Carolyn Durrence, Sanford, NC, Peggy Smith, Aiken, SC, Sandra Strickland, Blackshear, Elaine Parshal, Brunswick, Genice Pace, Charlotte, NC, Sarah Taylor (husband Robbie), Offerman, Mary Vela, Blackshear and Marie Davis, Charlotte, NC; a brother, Johnny Owens (wife Teresa), Homeland; sister-in-law, Doris Owens, Blackshear and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, from the Hacklebarney Baptist Church.
