Bernice Faye Yohn Jacobs, 75, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
She was born on March 4, 1948 as the third child born to the union of Bernice Chandler and Isarel W. Yohn. She attended the public schools of Polk County, FL and ranked in the top 10% in the state of ninth grade equivalency exam.
She married and had three children, Wade, Todd and Pamela. She always strived to do more, learn more and share her knowledge gained with others. She became a nurse in 1983 through Waycross-Ware VoTech with encouragement from her husband, William C. Jacobs, and went on to be a registered nurse in 1990. She loved nursing and helping families when needed. She went back to college at 54 years of age to be a funeral director and embalmer. She served 18 years at Jacobs Funeral Home from 2002 until 2020.
She and her husband achieved many accomplishments such as The Village Nook Clothing Store in Waycross, Chris’ Monuments, Jacobs Vault Company, Jacobs Funeral Home and Jacobs Properties (Rentals). She worked full time until her 70th birthday.
Her favorite expression was “if you can’t say something good about someone then say nothing at all.”
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William C. Jacobs; a daughter, Pamela Faye Robinson and two siblings, Windell and Linda Gayle.
Survivors include two sons, Todd Yohn, St. George and Wade Yohn, Blackshear; a brother, Wayne Yohn, Lakeland, FL; a sister-in-law, Kathy Rogers; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
Her ashes will be laid to rest by her husband of 43 years in their private family cemetery on her estate.
