Evelyn Guest Banks, 84, of Blackshear, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 27, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, following an extended illness.
Born October 15, 1938, in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Guest and Susie Davis Guest Roberts. She lived all her life in Pierce County and was retired as a seamstress, having worked for Oxford Industries, Ruben Brothers and Matt’s Jackets.
She had been a longtime member of Rehobeth Baptist Church but was currently a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. She had worked in the nursery at both churches and attended the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Keller Roberts; a great-grandchild, Logan Branson and her siblings, Jackie Guest, Edgar Guest and Edna Faye Guest.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Wilton Banks, Blackshear; three daughters, Cindi Crawford (husband Edwin), Dixie Union and Donna Melton (husband Tommy) and Karen Carter, all of Blackshear; eight grandchildren, Chris O’Neal (wife Nealie), Dustin O’Neal (wife Meg), Jamie Justice (wife Bethany), Kyle Melton (wife Robyn), Brandy Russell (husband Julian), Amber Burney, Ashley Taylor and Kellyn Williams (husband Dustin); 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild expected soon; a sister-in-law, Gloria Guest, Fernandina Beach, FL and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery.
