William Elver Hodge

William Elver Hodge, 80, of Blackshear, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

Born in Patterson March 23, 1943, he had lived in Pierce County all his life. He retired from Bamboo Shoe Factory and enjoyed playing the guitar, riding on motorcycles and working on small engines. He loved spending his time with his children and extended family members. He was known for his kind, humble spirit.  Ephesians 4:2 – Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

He was a son of the late Elver and Maude Foster Hodge. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Ivey Hodge; a daughter-in-law, Inez Hodge; his sister, Mary Dykes and his brother, Marvin Hodge.

Survivors include his daughter, Peggy Hodge (Kerry Mixon), Blackshear; his son, Dale Hodge, Blackshear; a brother-in-law, A. B. Dykes, Blackshear; six grandchildren, Christopher Nowell, Kenzi Cardwell, Zach (Summer) Cardwell, Robbie Norman, Lisa Nowell and Jessie (April) Nowell; three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel with Pastor R. B. Gaskins officiating.

Interment will be in the Foster Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Hospice Satilla for all of the love and care they have shown to William and his family these past eight months.
