David Cameron O’Neal, Jr., 62, of Blackshear, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023, at his residence.
Born in Blackshear, December 20, 1960, he had lived in Pierce County all his life. He was a 1978 graduate of Blackshear High School. Following his high school graduation (and his father’s footsteps), he began his career in law enforcement that would span over 43 years. He worked as a jailer and jail administrator, EMA director, sheriff’s deputy (in Pierce and Brantley Counties) and volunteer firefighter. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding the tractor/lawnmower, fishing and taking power naps. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather and a great friend. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Cameron O’Neal Sr. and by his step-father, Bootsie Boatright.
Survivors include his wife of two years, Regina Tippins O’Neal, Blackshear; three sons, Chris (Nealie) O’Neal, Dixie Union, Dustin (Meg) O’Neal, Homerville and David C. O’Neal III, Blackshear; a step-daughter, Mollie Tippins, Blackshear; a step-son, Tucker (Brandy) Tippins, Blackshear; his mother, Juanita Dixon O’Neal Boatright, Blackshear; his sister, Tammy O’Neal, Blackshear; his mother-in-law, JoAnn Tippins, Blackshear; his brother-in-law, Bobby (Cassy) Tippins, Blackshear; six grandchildren, Raife O’Neal, Jase O’Neal, Cade O’Neal, Raylon O’Neal, Reid O’Neal and Oakley Tippins; a nephew, Mason (Laci) Tippins, Blackshear; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
