Roberta Mae Hewitt Awmiller, 86, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at her residence.
She was born June 14, 1937, in Conifer, Colorado. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. She graduated from Ft. Morgan High School in Ft. Morgan, Colorado, in 1955. She went on to work for Hewlett-Packard for many years before pursuing her passion for horses at Reed’s Morgan Horse Farm in Brighton, CO. Additionally, she owned and operated Eaton Upholstery in Eaton, CO. She was a true artist and created numerous paintings, mostly of animals, over the years. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Esther Fields Hewitt and her sister, Viola Creighton.
Survivors include her daughter, Melanie (Richard) McCammon, Blackshear and her son, Jeffery Awmiller, Montrose, CO; her brother, Douglas Hewitt of South Dakota. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her grandchildren: Robert Phillips (Carrie), Nicole Sweat (Jeremy), Adam Phillips, Shawna Awmiller and Troy Awmiller. She was also blessed with four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Memorization was by cremation, honoring her wishes. She will be interred in Colorado at a later date.
