Henry Franklin “Hank” Baxley, 73, of Patterson, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 19, 2023, at Harborview Pierce County Nursing Home in Blackshear.
Born in Jackson, NC October 27, 1949, he had lived in North Carolina, moving to Pierce County in the mid-1980s. He was a construction worker, having worked for George Marsh Construction. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to the chatter on his CB radio. He enjoyed watching Kung Fu movies, especially those starring Bruce Lee, and Westerns, especially Bonanza. He also enjoyed the quiet time that he found while fishing. But above all, he loved his family and especially his grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Charlie Franklin and Nettie Bryant Baxley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Baxley.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Deborah Marsh Baxley, Patterson; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and David Smith, Screven; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Rachel Baxley, Hoboken; son and son-in-law, Spencer Baxley and Michael Laughlin, Waycross; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Rayborn Riggs, Ernul, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Kim Baxley, Zebulon, NC; brother, Donnie Baxley, Ernul, NC; grandchildren, Cody Smith, Cassie (JB) Denison, Gavin Baxley, Zane Baxley, Madelyn Baxley and Graham Baxley; great-grandchild, Palmer Denison and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at the Offerman Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, from the Offerman Baptist Church with the Rev. James Lightsey officiating.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
