Native son Stetson Bennett IV to host event at PCHS Apr. 24 to benefit women’s athletics

Pierce County’s native son and two-time National Championship Quarterback Stetson Bennett IV will host “Bennett’s Blitz” this coming Monday, April 24, at Pierce County High School.

The Blitz is a benefit for women’s athletics at Pierce County High School and will feature a powderpuff game at Bear Stadium.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and the event begins at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $10 cash or by check at the gate. All proceeds will benefit women’s sports at Pierce County High School.

The event is sponsored by Onward Reserve.

Bennett’s youngest sibling, his sister, Olivia, plays for the Lady Bears softball and basketball teams.

Bennett led the Pierce County Bears to three consecutive state playoff appearances. His senior season is highlighted by 3,724 passing yards, 500 rushing yards and scoring 40 total touchdowns before graduating in 2017. He passed for over 8,000 yards as the Bears quarterback.

Bennett then went on to lead Georgia to back-to-back national championship titles including being the MVP of both of those games. He finished his UGA career as a Heisman finalist and was awarded the 2022 Burlsworth Trophy, given to the most outstanding FBS player who began his career as a walk-on. Stetson’s career in Athens included 8,400 passing yards, 530 rushing yards, and 86 total touchdowns and he now holds the record for the most passing yards in a single season in program history. He is also the first Bulldog in program history to be awarded the Manning Award, given to the nation’s top quarterback.

Bennett now awaits to see his future in the NFL as a projected pick in this year’s NFL Draft which begins April 27.
