Pierce County Schools, Blackshear Family Practice offering physicals for athletes

Pierce County Schools and Ascension St. Vincent’s Blackshear Family Practice are offering physicals for $10. These physicals are good for one year and will cover the 2023-2024 school year.

Students must have a physical on file in order to tryout for any type of sport during the next school year.

Parents may elect to take their child to his or her physician for the physical, at the cost charged by the physician’s office.

There is a two-step process involved in getting the physical done. The preliminary portion of the physical is done first. The Certified Nurse Aide class at PCHS will do height, weight, and vital signs on the student during school hours. The physical exam with Ascension St. Vincent’s Blackshear Family Practice is completed after the preliminary portion which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19, after school in the PCHS Gym.

Physical forms must be returned with the $10 fee before the preliminary exams are done. Please make checks payable to Pierce County High School. Please return forms by Friday, April 14, to either Mrs. Paige in the nurse’s office or Mrs. Knowlton in room 187. Physical forms are available in the nurse’s office.

If the preliminary portion of the physical is not completed, then Ascension St. Vincent’s Blackshear Family Practice physicians will not complete the physical examination April 19.

For the physical to be complete, the student must be examined by a physician. If the student fails to show for the second portion of the physical it will become the student’s responsibility to get the physical completed and turned in. The $10 fee will not be refunded for failure to show for the second portion.
