Georgia Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Verda M. Colvin, will be the guest speaker at Black Tie Gala of the 100 Black Men of Southeast Georgia.
The annual gala will be held Saturday, April 15. A reception will be held at 6 p.m. with the gala to begin at 7 p.m. The gala will be held at the Lee Street Resource Center, 623 Sycamore St., Blackshear. The theme for the banquet is “What they see is what they will be.”
Ticket prices are $35 per person or a table for six persons for $600. Please note the change in the price for a table.
Justice Colvin was appointed to the Supreme Court July 20, 2021, by Gov. Brian Kemp. She is the first African-American female appointed by a Republican governor to the state’s high court.
Previously, she served on the Court of Appeals, having been appointed by Gov. Kemp in April 2020. Her time as judge also includes nearly six years as a Superior Court judge in the Macon Judicial Circuit and an Assistant United States Attorney in the Middle District of Georgia.
The 100 Black Men’s annual Black Tie Gala will return this year after being cancelled for the last few years due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The 100 Black Men mentors local students as part of their service to the community.
