On April 13, The Exchange Club of Blackshear was honored to have Hannia Martinez and Cianna Kicklighter, Students of the Month, attend our meeting. Hannia, who was accompanied by her father Raul Martinez, is a Senior at Pierce County High School. Miss Martinez has been in theater all four years of her high school career and is currently preparing for The Wizard of OZ production. Hannia told us of her involvement 11th and 12th grade with FFA. She is also involved in an internship with two of the Spanish teachers. After graduation, Hannia plans to attend the University of Alabama, where she will pursue a degree in Interior Design. Hannia then introduced Mr. John Ratliff as her Teacher of the Month. She told us, “Mr. Ratliff has always been a really good mentor to me.” Her teacher described Hannia as a hard worker with a superb character. At the close of his remarks, Mr. Ratliff stated, “I was a little hurt that she chose Alabama, but I want her to be happy.”
Cianna Kicklighter was accompanied by her father, Mr. Clay Kicklighter. Cianna who is also a Senior this year is the President of Beta Chapter, Reporter of FBLA, and Treasurer of the First Southern Bank Junior Board of Directors. Miss Kicklighter is involved in FFA, One Act play, literary club and class plays. After graduation Cianna plans to attend the University of Georgia, where she will study Wildlife and Fisheries. She also would like to write books in the future. Cianna introduced her Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Kelly Justice. When speaking about Mrs. Justice, Cianna shared, “she teaches us more than just theater, she teaches us about life.” Mrs. Justice was honored Cianna chose her. She stated, “Cianna is the cream of the crop, she is brilliant, sensitive, and a leader.” It was evident that Mrs. Justice was quite fond of Cianna stating, “She really is a hardworking human being that I love to spend my time with.”
Both Hannia and Cianna wanted to remind everyone to come out to Pierce County High School on May 11, 12 and 13th for the production of The Wizard of Oz.
Matt Gardner, President of the Blackshear Exchange Club, reminded the students that all of the Exchange Club Students of the Month will have a chance to win a scholarship at the end of the school year.
The Exchange Club would like to wish both of these oustanding students much success in their future.
