Hyers to be new assistant principal at Pierce middle

Lauren Hyers has been hired for to fill a new assistant principal’s position at Pierce County Middle School.

The hire came during a called meeting of the Pierce County Board of Education Monday morning. Hyers was hired after a four minute closed session to discuss personnel. The personnel session also included other recommendations and resignations.

The new assistant principal’s position is funded by state funds awarded for growth in enrollment at the school.

Hyers currently teaches seventh grade math at the middle school. She is a 2007 graduate of Pierce County High School and has earned both master’s and specialist degrees in instructional technology.

She and her husband, Cheston, have two sons, Grayson, 6, and Grant, 4. Grayson is a student at Midway Elementary and Grant will start pre-k next year, also at Midway Elementary.
