Reynold ‘Spunk’ Gregory

Reynold “Spunk” Gregory, 87, of Alma, passed away Tuesday morning, April 4, 2023, at his son’s fiancé’s residence.  

Born in Hoschton September 13, 1935, he lived in Bacon County most of his life. He had been a farmer all his life and had a knack for working on engines. He was a great husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He never received much in the way of a formal education, but life taught him many lessons. He was wise beyond his years and when he spoke it was wise to listen. Everyone who knew him can recall many stories of how strong and capable a man he was. He faced each new day and every challenge head on, never giving up. His strength, love and wisdom will live on in everyone’s hearts.

He was a son of the late Sherman T. and Cennie Mae Bell Gregory. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Mathis Gregory; three sisters, Ivylyn Gove, Sue Eberhart and Martha Gove-Vile; and three brothers, Wady Gregory, Lavern Gregory and Donald Gregory.

Survivors include his son and his fiancé, Ronnie Williford and Waunee Winchester, Alma; two sisters, Marion Hayes, Hoschton and Alice Ann Gregory, Columbia, TN; a brother, Darrell Gregory, Jacksonville, FL; nieces and nephews, Brandon, April, Connie and Brandy; his pet cats, Princess, Tom, Friendly and Gray; a close friend, Dixie, Alma; his new friends at Hospice Satilla who took the best care of him and several other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday, April 7, at the Lee’s Chapel Cemetery in Alma.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, from the Lee’s Chapel Cemetery in Alma.
