Replacement of the 60 Foot Creek Bridge Replacement Project on Tyre Bridge Road near Patterson is slated to be put out for bid in 2024.
Jill Nagel, district communications officer with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) said the planning phase of the project is now undergoing its final review.
The project proposes replacing the existing bridge on Tyre Bridge Road crossing Sixty Foot Creek. Sixty Foot Creek runs by the Edward “Bud” Newton Community Center.
The estimated cost of the project is $1.4 million. It is a state GDOT project.
The existing bridge is 135 feet in length and was built in 1950. The new, proposed bridge would be 185 feet in length with a deck width of 31.25 feet, two 11-foot lanes, and 8-foot shoulders. The proposed bridge would be constructed on the existing alignment. The current bridge is being replaced because of its age and its diminished structural integrity.
