Offerman will host Pierce County’s only observance of the National Day of Prayer this year.
The annual National Day of Prayer observance will take place at noon Thursday, May 4, in the Offerman City Park.
The Rev. James Lightsey, pastor of Offerman Baptist Church, is the coordinator for the event.
The Rev. Lightsey encourages all residents to attend the observance.
This year’s Day of Prayer theme is “Pray Fervently in Righteousness and Avail Much.”
The theme of this year’s observance is based on James 5:16B: “The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (NKJV)
This year’s observance marks the 72nd National Day of Prayer which was first commemorated in 1952.
