Annette Thornton Odum, 86, of Offerman, passed away early Sunday morning, April 23, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross
Born in Offerman December 6, 1936, she lived most of her life there. A 1954 graduate of Patterson High School, she loved to play the piano and sing. She loved going to church and taught the children’s Sunday school class in her earlier years. She was a paraprofessional for many years at Patterson Elementary School and enjoyed working in her yard. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling with family and friends and spending time with her grandchildren. She attended Offerman Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Omar and Lizzie Anna Sinclair Thornton. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Travis Eugene “Zeke” Odum; a daughter-in-law, Amelia Odum; sister, Mary Lou Ammons; brothers, Albert Thornton and Clyde Thornton and a grand-daughter-in-law, Beth Odum.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Luther Rouse and Keli and Tommy Doss, all of Waycross; two sons, Mike Odum and Glen Odum, both of Offerman; a sister, Estelle Turner, Blackshear; a sister-in-law, Mae Thornton, Savannah; seven grandchildren, Travis Odum, Trevor Odum, Myanika (Josh) Richardson, Rachel Rouse, Noah Rouse, Lane Doss and Ava Doss; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, from the Offerman Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery.
Members of the Patterson High School Class of 1954 are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers and are asked to meet at the church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
