End of course testing is at 1 p.m. today (April 26) for those students taking the NOCTI TV Production exam. This is for students enrolled in Mr. DuPont’s AV classes.

Several PCHS students were honored at the April meeting of the Pierce County Board of Education: Maria Sotello (All-State Band), Jaden Lyons (wrestling-state champion, 215 lbs) Forrest Whitley (wrestling-5th place, 126 lbs), Danny Thigpen (wrestling-5th place, 144 lbs), and Nathan Rupright (2nd place, Georgia Student Technology Competition).

Congratulations to Aubrey Johnson and Maria Sotello for making the 2023 South Georgia Region Honor Band! South Georgia Region Honor Band is composed of the best musicians from Macon down. Aubrey and Maria had the chance to work with Dr. Shiree Williams, the UGA wind band conductor and professor of undergraduate and graduate conducting.

We salute the two newest captains for the Audio Video Technology and Film classes: Thomas Lee and Davis Byrd. Thomas and Davis are each seniors and pathway completers who have demonstrated the highest order of leadership. Davis specializes in broadcasting while Thomas is a graphics specialist. Way to go, guys!

Kudos to the following students who received their certification in EverFi Finance Academy: Levi Travis, Brayden Cason, Sebastian DeLeon, Drew Guy, Karen Xu, Caroline Tuttle, Thomas Griffin, Kenan Grant, Thomas Lee, Martin Escobar, Sarah Guy, Nicholas Sweat, Geraldine Aguirre, Makayla St. Val, Jocelyn Edenfield, Chloe Lee, Sage Delille, Annagail Westberry, and Allie Partin. This program includes seven modules on a variety of personal financial literacy topics including Banking, Income & Employment, Budgeting, Consumer Skills, Managing Credit and Debt, Financing Higher Education, and Insurance, giving students the tools they’ll need to successfully manage their financial future.

The annual PCHS Teacher Signing Day will be Monday, May 1. Participants must be seniors graduating in 2023 who want to pursue working with children in education as their career job”. Students come by Mrs. Amy Day’s classroom 249 to sign up.

There will be a reunion for seniors who attended Lollipop. The reunion will be at 6:30 p.m. May 3 at the Lollipop building.

The 2023-2024 Student Council and Class Officer Elections will be held Thursday, May 11.

PCHS Chorus and Theatre Departments will present “The Wizard of Oz” at 7 p.m. May 11, 12, and 13 in the auditorium. Admission will be $10 at the door.

June 12-14 are the three days for upcoming seniors to make appointments for their senior pictures with the school’s senior pictures photographer, SWI. July 29 is make-up day.

College of Coastal Georgia and Southeast Georgia Health System will be hosting the 2nd edition of Nurse Camp, July 11-14. Instruction is 9-4 daily, and there are two pricing options, including an overnight option for those students who want to stay on campus. Apply only by May 15 at sghs.org/nursecamp.

Remember that student work permits must now be obtained from and returned to the guidance office here at PCHS.

Seniors: Remember to pay your class dues, fines, lunch bills, and any outstanding fees or fines ASAP. Senior class dues are $20, but if you haven’t paid from previous year, you must also pay those before graduation. Underclassmen fees are: juniors ($25), sophomores ($10), and freshmen ($5).

Girls’ soccer finished their season this past week, losing in the Sweet 16 to Ace Charter. The final score was 2-1 in a game decided in overtime. Congratulations to Coach Abby Cuneo and the soccer Lady Bears on a great season.

Baseball season came to a close this past Thursday as a very young PCHS squad barely missed the state playoffs. Despite having only one senior, the baseball Bears matured rapidly and won 8 out of their last 10 games. Hats off to Coach Evans, Coach White, senior Jacob Pittman, and all the baseball Bears. We look forward to the bright future that lies ahead.
