Ben Tuten of Bristol had two runs batted in as his Georgia College and State University (GCSU) Bobcats Baseball team picked up a three-game sweep over USC Beaufort (USCB) Sandsharks over the weekend.
Game one of a Saturday doubleheader was a 5-4 victory for the Bobcats. The Sandsharks plated two in the first inning then the pitching staff shut them down for seven scoreless innings.
The Bobcats had a two-run third inning to cut the Sandshark lead down to a single run. Tuten (Bristol) plated the first run of the inning as he grounded out to the third baseman.
GCSU had yet another two-run inning in the fourth to take a lead they would not surrender.
The second game of the day was a pitcher’s duel that resulted in a 3-2 GCSU walk-off victory. The Bobcats plated a single run in the fourth, sixth and ninth innings of the contest to leg out the win.
In the opening game Friday, the Bobcats scored 11 runs in the victory.
Tuten nabbed his first knock of the game driving a single up the middle for the ninth run of the game for GCSU.
(8-11, 6-3 PBC) for the first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series sweep for GCSU.
