Gerald Howard Paul ‘JR’ Peters

Gerald Howard Paul “JR” Peters, 59, of Patterson, passed away Friday morning, March 24, 2023, at his residence.  

Born in Chicago Heights, IL April 26, 1963, he had lived in Illinois and Ocala, FL for several years prior to moving to Pierce County six years ago.  He had worked in management for Pizza Hut in Florida. While in Illinois he had been a volunteer firefighter and worked in auto repair as well as working in his family’s bar. He was always a happy-go-lucky outgoing guy. He loved to go bowling, to watch NASCAR (he was a Dale/Dale Jr. fan), and was a Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. Country life suited him just fine and he was content here in southeast Georgia.  

He was a son of the late Gerald Bernard Peters. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jeri Lynn Peters.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Felkins Peters, Ocala, FL; two daughters, Nikki Dacorte, Littleton, CO and Kelly Peters (Phil Moeller), Crete, IL; his son, J. P. (Amy) Peters, Cedar Lake, IN; his partner and caregiver, Shawna Wilkie (her son, Isaac Wilkie), Patterson; nine grandchildren, Alyssa, Kayla, Anthony, Kyle, Camron, Brantley, Somyiai, Riley and Jordan and several other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Interment will be in the Laura Chapel Cemetery.
