Bryan Singleton is Pierce County’s new interim county manager.
Singleton was hired as the new interim manager at the county commission’s monthly meeting last Tuesday night.
The resignation of interim manager Chuck Scragg III was accepted in the same motion. (See related story.) Scragg III is relocating to Dallas, GA.
County chairman Neal Bennett said Pierce County is fortunate to have someone like Singleton to step in to the role until a new permanent manager is selected.
Singleton’s contract with Pierce County will run through August or until a new permanent county manager is hired.
A native of South Carolina, Singleton is a graduate of Clemson University where he earned a masters degree in human resource development.
Singleton most recently served as county manager in Brantley County. He resigned that position in December, indicating that he plans to relocate to South Carolina to be near his parents. He decided to take the interim job here, however.
Prior to his stint as Brantley County Manager, he served as executive director of Action Pact in Waycross for five years. Action Pact is a community resource agency serving 29 counties in Southeast Georgia. He also served as human resources director and fiscal director at the agency during his tenure there.
Currently, there is no time frame for when a new, permanent county manager will be hired.
Nine candidates applied for the position but commissioners named Joey Cason as their sole finalist last month.
However, contract negotiations broke down and the board rescinded Cason’s finalist designation.
