Mark Deal, retired horticulture instructor at Coastal Pines Technical College in Waycross, was the guest speaker at last week’s meeting of the South Georgia Day Lily Society.
With spring kicking off the day before the meeting, Deal spoke about fertilization including how to feed, what to feed and why to feed.
Deal, a resident of Blackshear, has been interested in horticulture all of his life and was involved in landscaping before joining the staff of Coastal Pines.
A covered dish supper was served prior to the meeting and a short business session was held prior to Deal’s presentation.
A total of 26 members and guests were present for the meeting.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Membership to the South Georgia Day Lily Society is open to everyone who is interested in growing day lilies.
