Today (Wednesday) is the deadline for current juniors to apply for the 2023-24 First Southern Bank Junior Board. Applications have been emailed to all juniors.
This is School Board Appreciation Week, as recognized by the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA). Here in Bearville, we appreciate our hard-working board members: Wendy Puryear, Kirby Malone, Mitch Hall, Chip Griner, and Duward Boatright, Sr. Thanks to each of you for striving to make excellence the standard!
We salute the PCHS weightlifting team, which won the class AA state title on March 11 in Heard County at the Georgia Coaches Association (GACA) championships.
Shout out to Nathan Rupright, who placed 2nd in the state on March 11 in his category and grade band at the Georgia Student Technology Competition in Forsyth County. Nathan was the state runner-up in Multimedia Applications (11th/12th grade).
Hats off to Mrs. Justice and the PCHS Literary Team for their 2nd place team finish at region competition on March 8. Individual 1st place winners included Justin Herrin (Boys’ Solo), Keely Shipe (International Extemp), Maria Sotello (Literary Analysis Essay), and Cianna Kicklighter (Argumentative Essay). PCHS 2nd place winners included: Lauren Crawford & Sam Goettie (Duo Interp), and Cianna Kicklighter ( Comedic Interp). Our place winners included: Addy Cantrell (Dramatic Interp), Emma Dyal, Kelly Brewster, and Sera Howard (Trio), and Jaden Lyons, Justin Herrin, Melvin Sallet, and Aiden Baney (Quartet). Our 4th place finishers included Kaley Robins (Girls Solo) and Hannah Bonvechio (Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking).

Congratulations to the Sound of Silver Symphonic Band for scoring straight superior ratings as well as all A’s at their Large Group Performance Evaluation at Wayne County on March 9.. The band played their first level 5 piece of music since 2009.

Kudos to our FFA Forestry Team for winning first place at the Satilla Forestry Field Day. That event was held March 2 at Laura S. Walker State Park.

We salute the following students who received their certification in EverFi Mental Wellness. This program teaches students concepts like coping strategies, stigma, emotional health, and how to find help for themselves or others. This program was supported by Memorial Satilla Health.
Any girl interested in trying out for Spirit Cheerleading, please sign up with Ms. Madison Moore in the front office. All forms are due by March 23.

Student Council Members who signed up to volunteer for Special Olympics should see Mrs. Delaney for a permission slip form in order to attend. These will be due back by March 24.

The Miss PCHS/PCMS pageants are slated for Saturday, March 25. Competition begins at 4 p.m. in the auditorium.

Coastal Pines Technical College is fielding interest for the Mobile Electronics Technician Technical Certificate of Credit, which would be offered on campus at PCHS for the 2023-24 school year if there is enough interest. This field of study provides students with short-term training to prepare them for entry-level employment in the field of car audio systems installation. Topics include direct and alternating current principles, soldering techniques, and system installation procedures.
