A brand new home on Tyre Bridge Road was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning, just days before the owners were set to move in.
The home of Jamie and Erika Hodges and their sons at 2802 Tyre Bridge Road near Patterson was a total loss in the early morning blaze.
Jamie’s father, Kenny, who lives next door, noticed fire coming from the back of the new home and called 911 at 5:56 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The first unit arrived on scene at 6:04 a.m. Units from the Offerman, Otter Creek, Sunset, Southside and Walkerville stations of the Pierce County Volunteer Fire Department and the Patterson Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze. Pierce County Sheriff’s Office and the Pierce County EMS also responded to the fire.
Firefighters arrived to find the home completely engulfed in flames and used deck guns to knock down the fire and get the blaze under control. It took over an hour to get the fire under control.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
The cause and origin of the fire is listed as undetermined on the fire report due to the scope and extent of the damage to the structure.
Estimated value of the home and its contents was $400,000.
The Hodges family had been scheduled to move in to the home last weekend, but had not moved all of their belongings in to the home at the time of the fire.
The Hodges thanked the community for their support for their family in the aftermath of the fire.
“We have such a loving and caring community and we are so blessed to call Pierce County home,” said the Hodges.
