Pierce County Middle School (PCMS) hosted its 2022 Fall and Winter Athletic Awards Ceremony earlier last week (Feb. 24).
It was a packed morning, with several hundred student athletes, faculty and family members crowded into the PCMS gymnasium.
Speakers recognized 2022 as a strong year for PCMS athletics, with special notice given to Cross Country’s history making undefeated season and Competition Cheer’s 13th consecutive conference victory.
Other sports and athletes recognized included football, basketball, softball, the innaugural PCMS volleyball team, spirit cheer, wrestling, swimming, the Blue Diamonds Dance Team and Majorettes.
All Coaches present frequently called their teams family and oustanding individuals, occasionally being moved to tears.
PCMS Athletic Director Coach Maureen “Mo” Brown referenced her upcoming retirement as she prepared to present awards for sixth and seventh grade basketball.
“(The basketball team has) already told me “You gotta come back one more year.’ We’ll see what happens,” she chuckled.
