Pierce County High School’s Lady Bears Tennis Team swept Savannah Arts and Charlton County in action on the court last week.
The Bears tennis team won four of five matches over Savannah Arts. The Lady Bears opened the week sweeping every match over Charlton County.
The Lady Bears’ Jasmine Sargent won her number one singles match 7-6, 6-4. At number two doubles, Mary Kathryn Cox won in a forfeit as her opponent had a medical emergency. Cox won the first set 6-1 before the emergency occurred. Number three singles player Isabella Fazio won 6-3, 6-1.
The Lady Bears’ number one doubles duo of Natalie Sullivan and Marleigh Johnson won 7-6, 6-3. The number two doubles team of Ellie Kay Bennett and Addie Brown also won 6-2, 6-1.
The Lady Bears also won every set in their match against Savannah Arts.
Grace Christopher won 6-1, 6-4 at number one singles, Rebecca Tyre won 6-3 and 6-2 at number two singles and Marli Walker won 6-2 and 7-5 at number three singles.
In doubles action at number one, Maura Kate Waters and Taylor Sikes won by a pair of 6-2 scores, while the number two doubles combo of Mattie Lee and Jasmine Sargent won 6-2 and 6-4.
For the Bears, J.C. Nimmer won 6-3,7-6 at number two singles and Aaden Carlson won by a pair of 6-1 tallies at number three singles. Jeb Bradley lost 7-5, 6-1 at number one singles for the lone loss in the match.
At doubles, the number one team of Davis Hersey and Peyton Thompson won by a pair of 6-1 scores and the number two doubles team of Bennett Higginson and Garrett Page won by a pair of 6-0 tallies.
The teams will be in action again Thursday, March 16 vs. Tattnall.
PCMS girls tennis team finishes second
The Pierce County Middle School Girls Tennis Team finished as runners up in the Southeast Georgia Middle School Conference Tournament held recently.
