The Bears started off soccer season with 5A Coffee County and 7A Camden County, two region giants.
The Bears put both teams away with their high powered offense.
The Bears then opened region play by hosting number one ranked Savannah Arts Academy.
Despite a solid performance from the Bears, Savannah Arts Academy came away with the win.
The Bears then faced region rival Appling County on the road. The Bears blanked Appling County 5-0, with a dominant performance from senior striker Jonah Allen.
Currently, the Bears are ranked second in the region as they prepared to host Toombs at home on the turf last night (after The Times’ deadline).
Only the top four teams from the region will advance to the state playoffs. With multiple elite eight teams in the mix, Bears will have to claw their way out of the region.
The Bears over powered the Toombs County Bulldogs 2-0 Feb. 21 for a major region win. This shutout advances their record to 4-1.
Senior Striker Jonah Allen sliced through the Bulldog defense, scoring both goals for the boys in blue.
The Bear’s defense (consisting of Seth Stipe, Ceb Carter and Walker Brown) held the Bulldogs scoreless with the aggressive defensive assistance of Clark Stovall at the anchor position.
The Bears dominated the midfield the entire game with (Lane Doss, Sebastian Deleon, Jose Arzate, and Eric Merida) all giving standout performances.
Goal keeper Caden Edwards recorded the clean sheet for the night.
Friday (Feb. 24) night the Pierce County Bears soccer team hosted Vidalia at home.
This was an important region matchup for the Bears in regards to state playoff hopes.
Jonah Allen wasted no time finding the back of the net for the Bears.
The Bears continued the early onslaught with goals from Ashton Bowen, Sebastion Deleon and Jonah Allen again.
Eric Merida served up two assists from the mid field as well.
At the end of the first half the Bears were up 4-0. The defense for the Bears (Walker Brown, Ceb Carter and Seth Stipe) remained solid through the second half allowing only three shots on goal and zero goals scored.
Clark Stovall put an exclamation point on the night, scoring the final goal from a freekick in the last few minutes of the game and making the final score 5-0 Bears.
Caden Edaward (goalkeeper) recorded another clean sheet for the Bears.
“I am very proud of our early season success against some big name opponents. However, success is rented, it’s never owned, and you have to pay rent every single day,” said Head Coach John Hilton.
“Our region is stacked, and we are going to have to beat some really good teams to make the playoffs. We have to keep paying rent.”
PCHS Bears will next face off against Brantley at home Friday, March 3.
