Cana Kierra-Novella King

Cana Kierra-Novella King, 29, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what is to be, a resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. Sojourning for only a short while on this earth, she returned to her Creator when she heard the call of His sweet, gentle voice.

She was born November 10, 1993 in Macon as the third of five children of Reginald and Cynthia Jackson King

She was very artistic with a love for painting, using watercolors to bring life to her subjects and she often took pottery classes, allowing her creativity and imagination to form beautiful works of art. She loved her family dearly and would often cook Sunday dinners, allowing time for loved ones to gather and share laughs and delicious dishes. Her cooking skills often took center stage during family holiday gatherings. Spending time with her siblings was incredibly important to her and allowed the fostering of a long, loving, lasting relationship with them. She enjoyed singing with her sisters, going on long drives, attending good movies and picking up signature drinks from her all-time favorite, Starbucks. But the fun did not stop there, everyone knows that she was a fashionista, so no one is surprised to know that she frequently loved to shop at Sephora and other well-known stores that carried the finer things in life that she desired, worked hard for and attained.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, prioritizing and nurturing her love for Yahweh. She graduated with honors from Bay High School in 2012. After high school, she matriculated at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL, graduating with honors when she received her bachelor of science in business administration degree. Following her attendance at FAMU, she pursued graduate studies at Florida State University College of Law and obtained her juris master degree.

She was employed with the Federal Reserve Board Headquarters in Washington, DC as a human resource specialist.

Her education, experience and extremely high work ethic made her a perfect fit for the position in which her interpersonal and communication skills, detail orientation, decision-making and professionalism quickly gained the respect and admiration of her co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Cynthia Jackson King.

“Our beloved Cana Kierra-Novella King, with a beautiful, captivating smile that would brighten everyone’s day, encompassed love, beauty, intelligence, integrity, kindness, meekness, family, friends and spirituality,” said her family.

She leaves to cherish the essence and totality of her beauty, her parents, Reginald and Twila King; siblings, Natalie, Joshua (Naima), Kalah and Elizabeth; grandfather, L. C. Jackson; grandmother, Novella King and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and numerous sorrowing friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at King and Sons Funeral Home, 5236 U.S. Highway 301 South, Glennville.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, from the King and Sons Funeral Home Chapel.

Minister Trai Williams will preside with Bishop Michael Flynn offering a conversational prayer and Pastor Ricky Arthur giving words of comfort.

Musical selections will be offered by Sis. Tonetta Lane. Sis. Laura Kirk will offer the acknowledgements.

Interment will follow in the Old Halltown Cemetery, Ebenezer Church Road, Glennville.

The King Family gratefully acknowledges with sincere appreciation the many encouraging messages, prayers and all acts of kindness shown to us during this time. “Our thankfulness and appreciation will forever be in our thoughts, hearts and prayers for all that have embraced us with your love,” said the family.
