Jeanette Crosby Dixon, 84, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Satilla Bluffs Senior Care Center.
Born in Screven March 31, 1939, she had lived in Fort Lauderdale, FL, for several years before moving to Pierce County in 1962. She was a 1957 graduate of Screven High School where she had played basketball. Over the years she did secretarial work for different businesses as well as working at the Clinique counter at Belk in Waycross. She was a homemaker the latter part of her life. She loved to cook for her family and friends, tending to her flowers, playing golf in her younger days, traveling all over the world and reading. She was a member of the Red Hat Society as well as Supper Clubs and was a past president of the Blackshear Woman’s Club. She was a member of the Blackshear First Baptist Church and the Enriched Sunday School Class. Over the years she had been very active in several different capacities at the church. Missions were her passion with The Living Water for Roatan being most dear to her heart.
She was a daughter of the late Clifford Samuel and Effie Mae Todd Crosby. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Walter Lucious Dixon; three sisters, Pauline Jones, Josephine Resmiller and Eloise Saxon; and all three of her brothers, Clifford Crosby, Earl Crosby and Gene Crosby.
Survivors include her two sons, Wally (Tina) Dixon and Mark Dixon, all of Blackshear; her sister and brother-in-law, Voncille and Jake Dixon, Blackshear; four grandchildren, Bradi (Peyton) Sykes, Tori (Tyler) White, Buck Dixon and Haley Dixon; four great-grandchildren, Jayce Dixon, Colby Dixon, Kanon White and Mattie Dixon; a fifth great-granddaughter, Olivia Mae Sykes, due in February and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, at First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, from the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Young officiating. Jake Dixon and Tori White will be giving family tributes.
Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.

The family kindly requests members of the Enriched Sunday School Class to serve as honorary pallbearers. They are asked to please meet at the church by 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
